Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) essential oil has been used for centuries for it's calming effect, fresh, floral, and clean scent. It was used in Ancient Egypt and Rome as perfume, for bathing and even cooking. The calming properties help bring balance to your environment. It is widely used for helping some go to sleep. I use it on my pillow or my kids pillows. Not only does it help ease feelings of tension, but can also be used as an antibacterial ingredient.
Lavender contains a chemical called Linalool which is highly effective for reducing sadness and anxiety.
I am going to give away a huge secret here! Have you ever been so dissatisfied with your deodorant, especially after spending so much money on different types of highly recommended ones? Well, I have! I would buy expensive, fancy deodorants and end up feeling super jipped because it wouldn't even be an hour and I'd start noticing the funky smell. My chemistry was just not blending well with those different products.
One day, I saw a recipe online (I don't remember where now), where you only needed a few ingredients to make your own homemade deodorant. I played around with it and came up with my own blend. This stuff is all natural, can be organic (if you use solely organic products), is aluminum free, smells delicious and your skin will thank you!
Home Made Deodorant
You will need the following for this delicious home-made deodorant:
Add the drops of lavender and mix it thoroughly. Depending on the consistency, you might want to add equal parts of the baking soda and then the arrowroot.
Pour the mixture gently into the popsicle and cover it with the lid.
My friend Vanessa of Purly Grown is having a promotion on essential oils for 50% off. You get 6 different scents for $14.99 instead of $29.99.
